Brown skates to Junior Men’s crown
Jason Brown, from Highland Park, Ill., put on a late-night free skate clinic at the Arena on Sunday and vaulted past Max Aaron to win the Junior Men’s title in the United States Figure Skating Championships.
The 15-year-old Brown, who entered the free skate competition trailing Aaron by just .07 of a point following Friday’s short program, posted a score of 133.12 for a total of 195.23 that was two-tenths of a point better than silver medalist Joshua Farris. Farris, a former Renton, Wash., resident who turned 15 earlier this month, finished with a combined score of 195.03 to move ahead of Aaron, who finished third after a free skate that left him at 191.86.
